Past & Current Work

Waste Hero

A circular economy education campaign providing free zero waste resources to +750,000 students globally, while building the capacity of Ministries of Education, NGOs, and teachers to support a generation of waste heroes. Waste Hero also focuses on the empowerment of waste pickers, through policy prototyping and capacity building support.

North Carolina University Experiential Learning Program

An annual exposure visit introducing students from the Gillings School of Public Health to social business in Thailand, including community visits to hilltribe areas as well as coastal communities, and consulting assignments for local social businesses.

The Social Business of HIV Screening, Counselling & Support

Initiated through the participatory development of The Social Business Guide for HIV Screening & Other STIs, the program has also built the capacity of +100 HIV focused CSOs on social business and related topics, while working to enable access to finance for CSOs to develop social business models.

Incubating Women Entrepreneurs in the Southern Border Provinces

A 6-month incubation program for 60 women entrepreneurs from rural communities in the conflict-affected Southern Border Provinces, using human centred design to develop 10 community food businesses. Business partnerships were also brokered between Muslim and Buddhist communities, fostering shared values, peace and prosperity.

The Social Solar Project

A solar energy entrepreneurship vocational training program designed and piloted for inmates at Rayong Central Prison, in advance of their release. Training included technical skills, entrepreneurship, and life skills, while integrating with government vocational training certification requirements and including private sector partnerships for professional opportunities upon release.

Financing the Bio- Circular- Green SME Economy

To enable SME growth in the bio- circular- green economy, Yunus Thailand provided strategic guidance and training to a state owned bank, while operating as an intermediary for SMEs to access finance. This included training bank executives and branch managers, 500 SMEs, and enabling +93m THB in access to finance.

Social Procurement Assessment & Scouting

To unlock corporate procurement as financing for social businesses, Yunus Thailand conducted a state of social procurement assessment in Thailand, launched at the World Economic Forum. Social procurement strategy and scouting services have also been provided for a leading international company to enable them to buy from social businesses.

Catalysing an Innovation Ecosystem for People Centred Justice

The participatory design of an innovation ecosystem for people-centred justice, working with key stakeholders from the public, private, social business, and civil society sectors. Catalytic interventions were developed and are piloting to stimulate collaborative actions for more empathy driven justice interventions in Thailand and Southeast Asia.
